Heather Hollingshead Legacy Fund

The Heather Hollingshead Legacy Fund was established by Oatley Vigmond to honour Heather’s 40+ years of service and to ensure continued support for the SCI community in Barrie. Through a pledge of $40,000 over four years to Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCIO), this fund will support the vital client services that have been at the heart of Heather’s life’s work.

As a personal injury law firm specializing in catastrophic spinal cord injuries, Oatley Vigmond founded this legacy fund to bridge the gap between legal advocacy and the essential peer support services SCIO provides. It reflects a shared understanding that legal outcomes are only one part of the journey, and that ongoing, community-based support is critical. You can read more about the story behind this commitment here.

For more than four decades, Heather has been a consistent and compassionate presence within the spinal cord injury community. Her work has focused on ensuring people have access to trusted information, peer connection, and support as they navigate life after injury. She has helped shape a community where people feel seen, respected, and supported over the long term.

The establishment of this fund is both a recognition of Heather’s contribution and a meaningful investment in the future. It sets an important precedent, demonstrating how partners can honour long-standing leadership while directly supporting the evolving needs of the community, both locally in Barrie and across the broader spinal cord injury community.

SCIO is deeply grateful to Oatley Vigmond for this commitment and for the example it sets. The Heather Hollingshead Legacy Fund will help ensure that individuals and families continue to access peer support and services that are grounded in dignity, connection, and community. We hope this inspires others to consider how they, too, can recognize leadership, invest in community, and contribute to lasting impact.
