Harley ‘Rory’ Nott
Leader.
Mentor.
Indomitable, inspiring, intelligent, kind, charming, poetic, resilient, curious, confident, courageous, strong.
All these words and many more have been used to describe our deeply beloved Harley “Rory” Nott.
Irreplaceable is another.
Following his injury, he transformed himself from a 16 year old logger with a grade 9 education into a gifted lawyer with Canadian Department of Justice, and a champion for people with spinal cord injuries.
A Member of the Board for 7 years, and Chair for 4, Harley inspired and led by example, focussing people on being an organization whose efforts truly make people’s lives better, guided by people with lived experience.
Many remember his beloved service dog Tonka, literally and metaphorically, pulling him up hills.
Harley left an indelible mark on our organization and everyone he met.
He provided an example that every human would do well to follow.
He will be deeply missed.

Spinal Cord Injury Ontario extends its deepest sympathies to Harley’s family, friends, and all those who had the good fortune to know him.
