Coping with Grief and Loss When Living with a Spinal Cord Injury

This page is sponsored by

Let’s talk about how our Life Stages impact our experience of grief and loss when living with a spinal cord injury (SCI). For those who have a congenital SCI, all the Life Stages are experienced with the lens of disability. For those who acquire an SCI suddenly, or over time, the Pre-Injury Life Stages impact the Post-Injury Life Stages. As we move through these stages, we find ourselves continually coping with grief and loss; redefining our sense of “self”. Our experiences have the potential to isolate us, make us feel helpless and even hopeless. When we come together as a community to share our experiences, we are reminded that we are not alone; drawing strength from one another. You are the expert of your body and your experience in a world that is not inclusive. Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s share strategies and celebrate our ingenuity, tenacity and strength.

This session will be led by Wallace H Earl (formerly Randy Upper), MSW, RSW. Wallace has a T6 complete spinal cord injury that he sustained in 1988.
