Attendant Services

SCI Ontario Attendant Services delivers non-medical services in the Greater Toronto Area to help in the activities of daily living for people with disabilities. The goal of our attendants is to achieve excellent results and client satisfaction, promoting independence through excellence in service delivery. Attendant services make a positive contribution to our clients independence and participation in the community.

Attendant Services

The SCI Ontario Attendant Services Fee-For-Service program endeavors to meet the needs of people with physical disabilities. Services are pre-scheduled on a temporary basis by providing personal support services for a fee and within the policies and procedures of the organization. The Services provided are Client Focused/Client directed. Available Services include:

Standard Attendant Services
  • Personal grooming and hygiene such as bathing and toileting
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Support with light meal preparation, set up and feeding
  • Transfers and (re)positioning
  • Light housekeeping as related to the activities of daily living
Advanced Attendant Services
  • Includes any assistance with standard Attendant Services and /or
  • Assistance with breathing (e.g. tracheotomy, respirator)
  • Assistance with bowel routines
  • Assistance with intermittent catheterization

All services are pre-scheduled and available between 6 a.m. and 12 midnight, seven days per week.

Eligibility Criteria
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Able to self-direct service needs
  • Service provision within the City of Toronto
  • Have all necessary equipment and supplies for the delivery of service
